A few weeks ago, I got an email invitation to a local event hosted by StudioGood, the #ShareSLO Mixer. I recognized the hashtag because I've used it myself on posts that I feel relate to the San Luis Obispo community, but the invitation itself was vague and I wasn't quite sure why I had been invited. Curious to see what this mixer was going to entail, I RSVP'd yes.
After meeting and mingling with other local residents, business owners, and social media influencers for an hour, I listened to Joey Leslie, President of StudioGood, and his team talk a bit about #ShareSLO and why we had all been gathered together at the event. The hashtag "ShareSLO" campaign was created to do exactly what it says: Share San Luis Obispo! The mixer was thrown on to raise awareness of #ShareSLO, establish new relationships and networks within the community, and encourage locals to tag their favorite small businesses and share local events.
I had a great time meeting new people and catching up with familiar faces as well. Thanks to a few local caterers, I also got to enjoy some delicious appetizers and even a few tastings from SLO Wine Country and Central Coast Brewing.
To all my local San Luis Obispians, if you have a social media account (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc), share some of your favorite things to do in town with the hashtag #ShareSLO.
And to my non-local San Luis Obispo friends reading this, be sure to check out the hashtag #ShareSLO if you ever plan on visiting the beautiful central coast. You'll be sure to find tons of cool places worth checking out!
