Centrally Grown
**EDIT: Since posting, Centrally Grown has been closed. Unfortunately, the owner had a different vision with the property and has since closed. If you were lucky enough to enjoy this spot, I'm glad. If not, please enjoy the photographs below.**
My boyfriend and I spent the past weekend showing his younger sister around the Central Coast (as she may be moving to San Luis Obispo soon!) and stumbled upon an awesome spot that's recently opened up, Centrally Grown. After visiting their website, I realized that I had encountered them once before... when I tried their killer Abalone Ceviche at Sunset's SAVOR the Central Coast.
After cruising up north to see the elephant seals in San Simeon, we were going to grab food in Morro Bay when we were intrigued by a "Centrally Grown" sign and beautiful building just off the 101. Entranced by the immense amount of garden and greenery, what started as a quick pit stop quickly turned into an hour or more of exploring the edible gardens, enjoying locally-grown meals and soaking in the sun, all with a breathtaking view of the Pacific. Although I didn't get a second chance to enjoy their abalone ceviche, their deli had more options than I knew what to do with, and I ended up ordering a trio plate of curry chicken, quinoa bean salad and the most amazing honey-walnut-pear salad I've ever had.
If you're heading up or down the central coast and find yourself driving through the Cambria area, do yourself a favor and check out this sweet spot! Not only is it a beautiful place to visit, but they hold beautiful values as well, embodying the concept 'Less is More'. I will certainly be making more frequent trips up the coast now (and let me know if you'd like to join me!).
