Hi!

I'm Alison, a yoga instructor, lifestyle blogger and Long Beach native, living in Southern California with my husband Chris and our two kiddos, Callie and Ford.

This blog has been a space to share my adventures in fitness, food, travel and more as I’ve lived in San Luis Obispo, San Francisco, and now Orange County. I hope that my posts help inspire you to live your happiest and healthiest life!

The Nugget Couch vs. Costco’s Yourigami Play Fort

The Nugget Couch vs. Costco’s Yourigami Play Fort

As we head into the holidays, I can already hear all of our relatives asking “What do the kids want?” or “What can we get for the kids?”

While I’m not posting this for my own family, I thought I’d share a little side by side comparison of some toys that we have and love (and that I would strongly recommend to any aunts, uncles, grandparents looking for the perfect KID gift this Christmas).

To be specific, the two items I’m reviewing are here:

What You Get

  • The Nugget Couch ($250-270, depending on fabric)
Comes with four pieces: the base, thinner cushion and two triangle pillows

  • Yourigami Play Fort ($150)
Comes with eight pieces: two bases, two individual squares, two rectangles (half square), and two triangle pillows (also contains four smaller square and circle pillows that come out of the base/squares)

Quality

  • Cushions
Between the two, The Nugget definitely has denser, heavier foam. While this may be considered a plus from the strength and sturdiness standpoint, I do find it makes it harder for Callie to move pieces around. Because the Yourigami cushions are smaller and lighter, I’ve found she has been playing with them more (guessing this is because of their size but could also be due to the fact that they are “new” to her).

  • Fabric
While I have not compared The Nugget’s different fabrics, we have their double-brushed microsuede and it’s very soft. The Yourigami fabric is still soft too, but that “double-brushed” really gives The Nugget a silky smooth feel.

We’ve had The Nugget for two(ish?) years and I can definitely say it is very durable. We’ve been able to easily clean small spills and there’s no major wear and tear from our two littles just yet. While we haven’t had the Yourigami for nearly as long, I do feel like the material will hold up just as well (and we can zip off and wash just like The Nugget).

If I were to ask the kids which is their favorite, I don’t think they’d be able to choose - they love playing with them all!

At the end of the day, I found the main differences between the two are:

  • The Nugget is more expensive $$$

  • The Yourigami doesn’t have as dense or large of cushions (this could be a pro/con depending on the amount of space you have)

Where You Can Get Them

Happy holidays and happy kids!!
